Brick, NJ (June 10, 2018) – Zarrilli Homes is proud to celebrate its 15th year building modular homes at the Jersey Shore. Throughout this time, the company has seen tremendous growth, becoming a leader and innovator within the modular home industry. According to Founder and President Anthony Zarrilli, when he first started researching modular home building, he knew it had the potential to change the future of new home construction.
It all started when Zarrilli, while working alongside his father constructing custom “stick built” houses, saw an article about modular homes which peeked his interest. After visiting several modular plants and receiving approval to build, he ordered his first modular home. Zarrilli set the home in Point Pleasant by himself, and it was listed for sale. However, his real estate agent wasn’t quite sure how to market a modular home, so he decided to sell it on his own. “At that time, people did not recognize the superiority of modular homes. They are much more efficient and are built to a higher quality,” he noted.
Once sold, Zarrilli repeated the process, but this time in Point Pleasant Beach. While working on that project, people started to take notice. Before he knew it, Zarrilli was being asked to build modular homes for others. “I went from building 4 homes per year to 8 to 12, and it just kept on growing from there,” he said. “That’s really how it all started.”
Presently, 95% of the homes the company builds are modular. However, when Zarrilli first became involved in the modular industry, there was no option for customization. “There was no latitude to design a home for yourself,” he remembered.
Zarrilli set out to change that. “We wanted to build what the customer wanted, not tell the customer what they can have,” he said.
In fact, pushing for customization is what earned Zarrilli the “30 Under Forty” award, which is given to innovators in the building industry. “We were highlighting what the modular industry can accomplish,” Zarrilli noted. “It meant a lot to be recognized for the impact we were having on the industry and the direction we were taking.”
Today, the company is well-known for its custom modular homes. “We can build almost anything the customer wants,” said Zarrilli.
Looking toward the future, Zarrilli revealed that positive changes are in store for home energy efficiency with regard to items such as insulation, heating and cooling, appliances and lighting.
“The direction we’re taking with Zarrilli Homes is very progressive,” said Dave Mertz, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for modular home manufacturer, Simplex Homes. “The modular market has become very customized, and Zarrilli has set themselves up to meet the needs and expectations of their customers.”
According to Mertz, Simplex is looking forward to continuing to work with Zarrilli Homes. “Not only are we both family-owned companies, but we also share common goals and business practices,” he added.
Over the past 15 years, Zarrilli Homes has been recognized by other industry professionals and clients as a leader in modular home building. After being a longtime member of the Modular Home Builders Association (MHBA), Zarrilli was elected to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors. The company was also awarded the MHBA’s 2014 and 2016 “Home of the Year” designation, as well as several “Home of the Month” designations. Zarrilli and his team have been featured on the popular television show This Old House and on multiple episodes of the DIY Network show Breakneck Builds, which highlights the advantages of modular home construction. Zarrilli Homes has also been voted “Best Modular Home Builder” of Monmouth and Ocean Counties in the Asbury Park Press Reader’s Choice Contest and has been acknowledged by numerous customers for being instrumental in helping homeowners rebuild since Superstorm Sandy.
